Cryptocurrency trading platform Coinbase (COIN) is scheduled to report 3Q21 results with a conference call to follow at 5:30 p.m. ET.

Analysts are expecting the company to report EPS of $1.72 and revenue of $1.58 bln.

Other important metrics:

• Monthly Transacting Users (MTUs): In Q2, MTUs grew by 44% to 8.8 mln.

• Trading Volume: In Q2, trading volume climbed by 38% to $462 bln, with retail trading volume up 21% to $145 bln.

COIN will likely provide an update to its FY21 outlook, this potentially includes its 2021 Annual Average MTU Scenario commentary.

Last quarter, COIN provided three separate scenarios: High, Mid, and Low.

• High: Average 2021 MTUs of 8.0 million. This scenario assumes an increase in crypto market capitalization and moderate-to-high crypto asset price volatility.

• Mid: Average 2021 MTUs of 7.0 million. This scenario assumes flat crypto market capitalization and low-to-moderate crypto asset price volatility.

• Low: Average 2021 MTUs of 5.5 million. This scenario assumes a decline in crypto asset capitalization from current levels, and low levels of crypto asset price volatility

TECHS:

Now that Bitcoin and Ethereum are trading near all-time highs, expectations for a strong quarter have sky-rocketed, as illustrated by COIN's 54% gain since the end of September.

For this, it's worth noting that the surge in Bitcoin and Ethereum prices mainly occurred after COIN's Q3 ended so guidance will be interesting (if given).
