Earnings Season Kick Off Jan27 2020

Here’s what’s in store for next week!

Fed

The coronavirus has sickened bullish tune that was being played since the start of 2020. The real fear for the markets however would be any unanticipated moves by the Fed. This report is not likely to unearth any surprises on the rates front. The markets though will be paying close attention to how the Fed is treating its REPO operations.

Any hints at a pullback on the REPO front could lead to some further profit taking as investors would exercise caution. This should be a non event but that is exactly why it is worth noting in the first place.

Inflation Data

Pricing has been a key reason for the Fed and other central banks taking an accomadative stance. We will be provided plenty of updates on this front with Mon- BoJ CPI... Tuer- S&P Housing Prices, Australia CPI... Wed- Powell conference, German Import Prices... Thu- Germany CPI... and Fri- PCE Prices and Employment Cost Index, and European CPI numbers. Collectively we should have a fair view of how pricing is trending.
